We are Faithful to God's Word

When we say, “God’s Word,” we mean the Bible.  We hold it extremely precious and believe in it completely.  Yes, that same Bible you buy in your local bookstore or off the internet is actually God’s Word, His personal message to us.  It is His heart, His Spirit, His intent, His plan, and yes, His warning, and it expresses His desire and His hope that we will grow to love Him enough that we will place Him first in our lives above everything else, even our love for our families and for ourselves.  It is His Word that gives us all the information we need to serve Him and allow Him to better us through His system of development:  trials, tests, and tribulations.  It is a tough system, but His Word lays it all out for us like a roadmap through our lives.

And there’s something else … Jesus was not only the physical embodiment of God while He was on the earth, but He was also the physical embodiment of God’s Word.  This is difficult to understand, but it is true.  This is why belief in Jesus as the Son of God opens the meaning of God’s Word to us and increases our understanding of it.  But it takes time.  In fact, it takes a whole lifetime.  Why not get started as soon as possible?

We are Faithful To God’s Son

Jesus, God’s son, manifested himself on earth as a human being, lived the life of a man, was betrayed and murdered, and rose from death to assume all authority over all of creation.  We are faithful to Him.

We are Faithful to God’s Word

The Bible, God’s Word, breathes life, beauty, and truth into our spirits and inspires us to develop as God wants us to:  into images of Him.  We are faithful to the Word.

We are Faithful to Service

The Bible tells us that “faith without works is dead.”  We take this seriously.  Service to others is one of the most notable aspects of Christianity, especially service to the poor and to the moral development of children.  We are faithful to service.

We Are Faithful To Community

Each congregation of the Churches of Christ is a community of its own located within a larger community.  There would be no purpose for a church that was not.  Love demands that we seek its better good.  We are faithful to community.
