We are Faithful to Service

God loves His creation, especially humankind.  Despite humanity’s determination to forsake Him and run as fast as possible toward evil, He went through tremendous personal heartache and sorrow to redeem us.  While doing so, He committed the greatest act of kindness the world has ever seen – or ever will.  The sacrifice of Jesus.

This was the act by which God provided us with the ability to spend eternity with Him.  It was a form of service.  Service could be defined as doing something necessary for someone who is in need, but is unable to help themselves.  In other words, the sacrifice of Jesus was the only way God could bring helpless humanity, trapped in its own sin, back into the light of His righteousness.  This is something we could never have done ourselves.  The way we show our appreciation for this is to live like we should:  thankful to God and serving others.

Based on this, we know that service is very important to God, and that he expects us to follow His example.  So, we eagerly seek to please Him by caring for those in need, especially widows, the poor, children, and those in prison.  Churches of Christ all around the world serve like God does:  full-hearted and hoping all people come to love Him by our example

We are Faithful To God’s Son

Jesus, God’s son, manifested himself on earth as a human being, lived the life of a man, was betrayed and murdered, and rose from death to assume all authority over all of creation.  We are faithful to Him.

We are Faithful to God’s Word

The Bible, God’s Word, breathes life, beauty, and truth into our spirits and inspires us to develop as God wants us to:  into images of Him.  We are faithful to the Word.

We are Faithful to Service

The Bible tells us that “faith without works is dead.”  We take this seriously.  Service to others is one of the most notable aspects of Christianity, especially service to the poor and to the moral development of children.  We are faithful to service.

We Are Faithful To Community

Each congregation of the Churches of Christ is a community of its own located within a larger community.  There would be no purpose for a church that was not.  Love demands that we seek its better good.  We are faithful to community.
